Apparently Cygnar never manages to learn a lesson. This time Sloan is send into Khador territory. Vlad, having developed quite a hobby dealing with Cygnar troops is once again dispatched. It turns out that Sloan brought an impressive eight shooting 'jacks. This brawl turns into a slow bloody grind. After an impressive six rounds, Vlad turns out victorious. He clearly demonstrates to Sloan what a group of determined Winter Guards can do to claim and hold the battlefield.

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. Major Markus ‘Siege’ Brisbane (Siege1)
Cygnar is once again making incursions into Khador territories. This time, Siege1 is brining some Heavy Metal. Who else but Vlad and his trusted Winter Guards can clean up the Cygnar trouble. It turns out to be a pretty simple exercise for the long term veterans. Khador metal is simply just heavier than Cygnar metal. Vlad is victories despite being on the receiving end of an assassination attempt under Siege1's feat. As an extra bonus, in this game Vlad never did get to use his feat!

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. Eminent Configurator Orion (Orion1)
Convergence is an almost unknown enemy. So, when they arrive at the Empress' borders, Vlad is send to investigate and contain. Vlad and his trusted Winter Guards discover a lot of shiny robots floating around, and decides to contain. It was a surprisingly easy match. Several of the best tricks are shown. such as: "How to kill a colossal" by Jozef Grigorovich; "Marauder to face" by Vladimir Tzepesci, and finally "How to ground flying robot" by the Gun Carriage Corps.

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. Kommander Zoktavir, the Butcher Unleashed (Butcher3)
So, Orsus is a strange character. Not only is he extremely dangerous, irregardless of incarnation. He is also a tiny bit unpredictable. On this occasion, he seems to be under the impression that the Winter Guards he is facing is not entirely faithful to the Empress and require a good killing. Luckily, Vlad is leading the Winter Guards. In a case of squishy men vs. mammoths of steel, the Winter Guards come out on top through an assassination by Carriage.

Kommandant Sorscha Kratikoff (Sorscha3) vs. Baldur the Stonecleaver (Baldur1)
The great Devourer is once again sending its Tharn spawn into Khador territory. Last time that happened, Irusk and his Winter Guards were dispatched. That turned out to be a terrible idea. So, this time Sorscha and her sturdy Man-O-Wars are send to intercept. It turns into a bloody battle far better than the last encounter. Yet, at some point Baldur is allowed to to pull off his famous forest walking assassination run.

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. The Harbinger of Menoth (Harbinger1)
The Harbinger again. She seems incapable of learning a lesson. Vlad will have to move his Winter Guards once again. This is a recurring match where the Harbinger list changes a little bit each time. Vlad's stay the same. I think we are roughly 50-50 against each other. So it is really a grudge match. However, Vlad comes out on top. One should never underestimate Marauders charging 14".

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. The Harbinger of Menoth (Harbinger1)
Once again, the Harbinger is bringing her deranged religious fanatics into Khador territory. This time Vlad is called upon to bring his trusted Winter Guards. The game is fast and brutal. Vlad is on top of it most of the way, and after the traditional kill Judy intermezzo, he is set to win. However, out of the blue Harbinger pulls the biggest hail Mary win I have ever seen.

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. Marshal General Baldwin Gearhart & Mr. Clogg (Gearhart1)
The dissidents from Llael seem to have a hard time accepting the natural order of things under the Empress' rule. Once again they are stirring things up. This time Gearhart is attacking our supply lines and Vlad with his trusted Winter Guard Kommand is dispatched to stop this nonsense. Vlad deals out swift justice and stops the Crucible Guards in the shortest game so far.

Kommandant Sorscha Kratikoff (Sorscha3) vs. Vice Scrutator Vindictus (Vindictus1)
The religious fanatics from the Protectorate have decided to push the Northern Crusade even further into Khador territory. This time the push is lead by Vindictus and heavy Exemplar infantry; and they are bringing a bloody church! Sorscha is dispatched to hand out the Empress justice to the invaders. This becomes a long meat grinding game of attrition. At the very last moment Sorscha pulls out a win on scenario.

Armored Corps under Kommandant Sorscha Kratikoff's orders (Sorscha3)
Sorscha3 should be the natural choice for an Armored Corps list - she is in Man-O-War armour! This post sums up my thought and rationale for putting together this particular Armored Corps list. Any short comings in the performance of Sorscha3 and her Man-O-Wars are solely the fault of the player.
Kommandant Sorscha Kratikoff (Sorscha3) vs. Kallus, Devastation of Everblight (Kallus2)
The Legion abominations are again plaguing the land. This time Sorscha is called upon to deal with it. She brings her trusted Man-O-Wars in an Armored Corps list against Kallus and all his merry evil Rudolfs. This battle was almost a song of fire and ice, where Kallus provided the fire and Sorscha the ice. Ice won – winter was coming.

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince (Vlad1) vs. Lord Ghyrrshyld, the Forgiven (Goreshade4)
Goreshade is making trouble again. Last time he managed to get the better of Irusk and his Winter Guards. This time the responsibility falls to Vlad. He brings the new hard hitting Winter Guard Kommand list, including two of the wonderful Gun Carriages. However, he is not the only one bringing Battle Engines. Goreshade is bringing a Trident, which turns out to be quite dangerous. However, the crazy elves are no match for Vlad and a Marauders in assassination mood.

Winter Guard Kommand under Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince's orders (Vlad1)
Vlad is a Winter Guard's second best friend after Irusk2. Where Irusk2 keeps them alive to fight another day, Vlad1 makes them fight today. This post details my approach to Winter Guard Kommand under Vlad1. As a special treat, this list contains two of the Empress' finest Gun Carriages. A marvellous addition to a WGK list under Vlad1.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. The Harbinger of Menoth (Harbinger1)
The Harbinger is flying into Khador territory using the rather impressive flag. She is a completely unknown foe to me. So, what better to do that pull out Irusk and his trusted Winter Guards. It turns out to be an interesting and fun fight. Unfortunately, it is so interesting that Irusk runs out of time and must face a defeat.

Today's tip: How do I know which unit this random Winter Guard belongs to?
There are currently more that 50 Winter Guard models on the table when Irusk commands his WGK list. This is a well and good during deployment, and perhaps during the first turn. But what to do later on when the table is a complete mess of Winter Guards from six different unit all mixed up? I have opted for coloured base markings, here is how and why.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Makeda & The Exalted Court (Makeda3)
Irusk faces the new black for Skorne, double Immortal party pack. This time under the command of Makeda & the Exalted Court. The battle is a slaughter of both Immortals and Winter Guards. Despite it going down hill for Irusk, he manages to pull through, is saved by the bell and manages to pull off a win.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Iona the Unseen (Iona1)
The wurm is restless, and Iona is bringing her Tharn into Khador territory. Irusk is called upon to stop the flow of beasts. He brings his Winter Guard Kommand list, despite that perhaps not being the best choice against Tharn. It is an uphill battle for Irusk, yet he almost makes it. However, Iona emerges victorious.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Absylonia, Terror of Everblight (Absylonia1)
The dragon spawn are moving into Kadorian territory and threatens the general population with their unnatural presence. Irusk is called upon to eradicate theses monsters. Despite the Terror of Everblight bringing no less than three huge monsters, Irusk and his trusted Winter Guards are triumphant.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Captain Eira Mackay (Mackay1)
Irusk once again has to fend of the insurgents coming out of Ord and disturbing the general population in Llael. Encouraged by earlier success, Mackay and her little tank is once again trying her luck. However, Irusk is a well seasoned veteran and he is not to be played twice. This time Irusk and his heroic Winter Guards are victorious and kills Mackay.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Captain Eira Mackay (Mackay1)
Once again the dissidents from Llael are stirring up trouble and disturbing the Empress' peace. Irusk is dispatched to keep the peace. This time Irusk is neck to neck with Mackay in her little tank. However, Irusk and his Winter Guards are unfortunately beaten by the clock.

Revisited: Winter Guard Kommand under Supreme Kommandant Irusk's orders (Irusk2)
Irusk2 is still a Winter Guard's best friend and Stalingrad-style lists are fun. However, over time Irusk has learned that the original list had its downsides. First and foremost, there is a lack of ARM-cracking ability. This is an attempt to remedy some of the problems, by changing the list to include the Greylord Adjunct and the triple Marauder battle group.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Lord Ghyrrshyld, the Forgiven (Goreshade4)

The elves are restless tonight. Goreshade has brought some of his brethren into Khadoran territories to hunt for innocent potential warcasters to the Empress army. Irusk brings his trusted winter guards to deal with this menace. This list decimation of the Ios forces. However, once a Helios digs in, it proves very difficult to remove.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Aurum Adeptus Syvestro (Syvestro1)
Irusk has been send to investigate the uprising of the dissident Khador faction from Llael, currently hiding in Ord. A winter guard kommand (WGK) group is dispatched. This is probably one of the worst match-ups for winter guards and Irusk2. But as part of the ongoing test of the Irusk2 and WGK, this should also be tested. It will probably not come as a surprise that Irusk came out on the loosing side.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. Colonel Markus 'Siege' Brisbane (Siege2)
Irusk2 has been called upon to take on Siege2, who is jumping around to great annoyance of the general population. Once again, Irusk will bring his trusted Winter Guards to deal with the menace.
The battle is bloody, in a "human life is cheap" kind of way. Despite Irusk doing a thorough cleaning-up of Cygnar insurgents, he is narrowly beaten by scenario score. Cygnar did a classic hide the caster instead of a proper fight. Next time, Siege will not know what hit him.

Today's tip: Weapon Crew escaping from annoying opponent
A friend of my gave me a brilliant tip the other day. Our marvellous knockdown on a stick, the Field Gun tends to be engaged by my opponents to avoid the knockdown issue. My fellow Kadorian pointed out that there is a rather cool way of getting out of the engagement.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk (Irusk2) vs. The High Reclaimer (Reclaimer1)
Irusk is facing the High Reclaimer and his favourite pet - the Judicator. To tackle this, Irusk will bring his trusted Winter Guards. The battle is bloody and starts of pretty well. However, due to a few grave mistakes by the controlling player, Irusk is let down and must bite the dust. There are quite a few learning points, which I trust will make Irusk victorious in future skirmishes with the High Reclaimer.

Welcome to the Greylord Archives
Welcome to the archives. This is a blog about Warmachine and Hordes, primary about our glorious motherland Khador.
I have been playing Warmachine since the early part of this millennium, and playing other miniature and role playing games for a life time. Since I started Warmachine, it has mostly been this. Other systems just don't seem to cut it anymore.
This blog will be mostly about Khador. I have been playing quite a few other factions, both in Warmachine and Hordes, but I do tend to return to the glorious motherland.
I am a mediocre player and mediocre painter. Yet, I often miss finding mediocre blogs. So here is my attempt at spreading mediocracy.
For the Motherland!
